Day 4

The morning light found us staring at the same rock we were staring at the evening prior. Of course, this was on purpose. We’d positioned ourselves for the morning’s sunrise.

We were up a bit early. Ben got some coffee going while we waited for the sunlight to do its thing. It was a tad bit cool, and a lot more clear than I’d hoped for. Personally, I like a bit of cloud cover in my images as a solid blue sky just doesn’t do it for me.

Ben spilled his coffee about three times while I got some early images of the butte. My batteries definitely do not perform as well as Ben's; range either. I expected a bit of performance drop-off due to the crisp morning temps, but, yeesh! Does anyone have any Mavic 2 Pro Intelligent Batteries they want to get rid of? ;-)

With our images loaded onto memory cards, we left the Factory Butte area and headed toward Moab with our final destination being the Telluride area of Colorado.

Sunrise at Factory Butte, UT

Fast forward a few hours and, poof, we are approaching Telluride, CO! Before getting into town, we crawled around the backroads scoping out compositions. Here’s one below that I tried from both under and out from under a tree branch.

Snow covered mountains from the cover of shade

It was getting close to sunset, so we did a quick survey of the skies and decided to shoot down the highway just outside of town. If we shot close to town, we could scurry back and get some tacos! I always make it a point to stop and eat at Uno Dos Tres Tacos. Thanks, Captain Colorado, for pointing out this location to me! You’ve created a monster!

The Ole Highway Shot, always a fave! Prints Available

A quick day as far as shooting goes. Sometimes it’s like that when traveling as most of the day gets eaten up on the road. Tomorrow should be a bit better as far as photogenic opportunities go.
