Monsoon Shields

Bottom Line Up Front
I have three sets of smoke grey shields from Taiwan that "fit" an L300. I'm asking $265 per pair + actual packaging + actual shipping. The packaging came out to $47 per pair. That turns out to be $312 for a set of Monsoon Shields before shipping. Pricey, I know. Sorry.

:-(

My Delica with the Monsoon Shield installed.

I’ve been driving around with a set of these Monsoon Shields on for two years. I love the look they add to the Delica. Helps give the L300 a more aggressive look, some attitude. I often drive down the interstate at 80mph with my windows down rain or shine with barely any air moving inside the vehicle. Yes, I can go that fast ;-)

If you are interested in a set of these, here are some things you should know/consider: (Please read fully before expressing any interest.)

 - Neither of the Shields that I have installed fit amazingly. The driver's (RHD) fits best. I've got a small gap in the forward area on each side. The gap on the passenger side is the largest. I've seen three complete installs of these shields, and all of them have these gaps. I decided to drive mine for a few weeks/miles to see how they did before placing the shields up for sale. The gaps have caused me no problems. I have driven in both wind and rain. I 'may' close my gaps with some thick black tape both on the inside and outside. However, at this point, I've been driving them like this for a couple of years and haven't felt the need to close that gap yet, so they must not be bothering me too badly. See pics.

 - The mounting holes are, in my opinion, best guesses as far as optimal location goes and were already in the shields when I got them. I didn't have to edit any of my holes, and the placement was fine. I could see that lengthening the holes might be necessary on some installs as the bracket might sit better if nudged up or down a bit, especially on holes that aren't already elongated. A Dremel should work. See pics

  - I plan to 'edit' the spacing in my actual hardware itself, eventually. I'm going to purchase a few extra washers and tighten a few of my nut/washer/bolt combos. This isn't necessary. I'm just looking to improve upon my installation. I may try small rubber washers. This can be a delicate process. Mine don't have any, but I can see stress cracks easily forming around these holes, especially if the mounting hardware is overtightened. See Rio's page for installation instructions, linked here:

I installed mine on a warm sunny day in an effort to help coax my shields to the shape I figured I'd be putting them into. I assumed that they'd need to bend a bit. Turns out this likely wasn't necessary, but it made me feel better.

I’ve recently flipped the hardware (nut and bolt) around since these images were taken, and I like the new method better.

 - Note: Be very careful during installation. There is no extra hardware. If you drop something and lose it, you'll have to get creative. I used painter's tape as a second set of hands to help me when I did my installation.

  - Yes, these are pricy; sorry. Trust me, I know. Try paying for five sets and having them shipped from Taiwan to the US.

  - Shipping will likely be expensive. Again, my apologies. I got them professionally packaged, and, as previously mentioned, I'll only charge you for the exact shipping and not a penny more. With that being said, I will not be responsible for shipping and/or damages. I've got images of your shields taken during packaging if you are interested.

Reminder: I don't currently know what YOUR shipping rate will be. I’ll know that once I get your mailing address. Whatever it is, it'll be added to the price of $265 for the Shields and $47 for the packaging. If the final amount ends up being too much for you, you'll be able to back out. Once you send payment, I'll ship the Shields, and there will be no turning back. Please understand. Thanks!

Feel free to choose a particular package while it's available. Edit: Box one is no longer available.

If you are in Colorado or plan to be, I'll gladly try to work something out and meet you somewhere and hand-deliver them to you if it is more cost-effective for you.
