The Image
The Colorado ghost town of Animas Forks, sitting at over 11,200’ elevation, is a true glimpse back into the days of old. The town is one of the highest mining camps in the Western US.
On this particular evening, while wandering around my campsite, I stumbled upon this old shack left behind when the mining town dried up. After admiring the shack, I walked around looking to frame up a composition. With only moments to spare, and the sun sinking low, I framed up this wide shot depicting the old shack and the view the individuals residing in it had.. The rest is history. Enjoy!
Interesting Note: In 2011 the town-site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places
