Day 4: Glass Beach
Day 4
The morning before I left camp, I went “next door” and chatted with the couple that owned the Delica above. It is rare to see another Delica on the road. It is even more rare to end up camped next to another one. It was a great start to the day, but it was also time to hit the road. Headed North.
I simply had to pull over and take the obligatory seaside image, right?
On the way to Ft. Bragg, I pulled over to scope out this little cove. The lighting was quite harsh, but with the addition of a 6-stop ND filter, I was able to show a little bit of motion in the water. I didn’t want too much, just enough to give the impression of a little bit of motion while keeping the texture of the water and the sea foam.
This poor little starfish nearly got trampled quite a few times before I was able to relocate it to the rocks seen in the below image. Its camouflage was quite good. So many people walked right on top if it and never knew. I hope the little starfish is doing well…!
Sunset was both fast approaching and moves fast! I scrambled around and found a couple of compositions that showed the day’s last rays shining through the glass.
All in all, the day was nice. It was a nice drive up Highway 1 followed by some scouting around and then some sunset photography. It's just the way I like it. Tomorrow, I photograph sunrise from this same beach but instead of down by the water, I stay up on the cliffs. See you then! :-)
