Day 3: Salt Point State Park

Day 3

Breakfast time in the Five Billion Star Hotel. LOL

Would you look at those eyes! It looks like I’ve spent the last few days on the road or something. Oh, wait… About that… Anyhoo, it was breakfast time and then I had plans on hitting the coast. Looked like it’d be clear skies all day. Bummer. Taking pictures of the ocean in full sun can be difficult. I’d have to choose my compositions accordingly.

No sand for beach towels

I was out shooting with my buddy Tau. He’s a bit of an expert on photography locations up and down Hwy 1. Looking out at the sky, I began hoping for a bit of cloud cover to begin creeping in before the evening’s sunset.

I walked along the coast following the footpath seen above.

Seals on what looks to be a nude beach

These three seals were pretty much begging me to take their photo. Having snapped an image of them with a rocky background, I moved around in the hopes of photographing them with an ocean background as well.

Seal taking a nap along Hwy 1

Here is a view of the same rocky shoreline only from a different angle. Can you find the remaining seal?

Old delivery truck

Having spent all day out with the camera. I felt like I earned a nice evening out. We skipped out on sunset and decided to go grab a bite in town.

You talkin’ about a small town…

We pulled into town in the hopes of getting a wood-fired pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza place closed pretty much in our face. It was about 1930. The dinner next door would have to do. Note the skies in the background. Of course, the evening that I step off of the beach to eat, the skies eventually light up! I bet it was beautiful. With that, this day was done. It was a long day of photography with not much as far as results “that I liked” go. I’ll try again tomorrow. :-)
