Lake Louise: Lost

Back in 2021, I went on a road trip from Colorado to Canada. Somehow, I took images that I’d forgotten about. Strange, I know. Images from Lake Louise were seemingly lost in the shuffle.

While scrolling through my Google Photos, I came upon the image below. I thought to myself, “I don't recall ever editing an image from this particular shoot.”

I took a stroll through my portfolio and, sure enough, I’d not edited anything from this shoot. I figure I editing quite a few, but simply moved on to the next adventure and never looked back.

How I overlooked this particular morning's shoot, I wasn't sure. It might have been the whirlwind September I had that year. It involved road trips to Florida, Arkansas, Canada, and SW Colorado. I was busy! Tho, once I began editing, the real reason quickly became clear why it may have been.

Here, above, is the pano comprised of images that came from much earlier in the morning.

Pretty popular place. That’s quite a few people sitting on the stone bleachers waiting for sunrise. Who could blame them? Certainly not me. However, they’d have to get up outta my image! 🤪

I had to edit them out. Maybe this is why I never edited this image back in 2021 when I took it. It took a lot of work getting the people out, some of the canoes out, and the bazillion goose feathers out that were floating on the water. Editing technology has improved a lot since 2021. I made quick work of the edit thanks in part to newer tools in Photoshop. Nothing AI-based. Tho, those would make edititing even easier. Yet, I refuse. Anyhoo…

I left one individual over on the rocks on the righthand side of the image. She was posed perfectly sitting under a blanket waiting for the sun's first rays on the peaks behind the lake. Can you see her?
