Colorado is known for some fantastic mountain views and this view of Maroon Bells does not disappoint. It's difficult to put into words and sounds a bit cliché, but pictures do not do this place any justice; at all.

After quite the drive, I pulled into the parking area just off the lake's shores. It was late, getting dark and I was looking to do some night photography. The clouds were not cooperating at all and my night images were a bust. It's one of those things... You plan a trip and hope for the best. Well, this night's weather was not going as predicted; the clouds were supposed to have cleared late into the night. I stayed out taking photos and waiting...., waiting for those skies to clear. Finally, I wrapped it up. I had to get a few hours of rest so I could function the next morning. I had heard that the crowds were huge this time of year, but I had no idea what I was in for. None.

The next morning came fast. Seems I barely shut my eyes and all of a sudden the alarm was going off. I woke to the sounds of people outside my vehicle. Yes, I slept in the car. 

"I am late!" I thought to myself as I scrambled to get my things together. Backpack: check. Jacket, gloves, beanie: check. Headlamp: check. I was ready to head down to the lake. I had to try and get a spot before the crowds, that I had heard about, arrived. I was the second person at the lake! I set up and waited. The sun would not be up for hours.

Finally, it was time for sunrise. I shot three images on this trip. Maroon Bells: First Light is one of those images. Enjoy!

Shipping
All prints, unless hand-delivered, will be shipped 1st class by USPS, with tracked delivery, in an 18"x4"x4" heavyweight mailing tube. Local hand delivery requires prior approval. To obtain approval, contact me via the Contact Me link.
